Full Spectrum vs Broad Spectrum CBD

Full Spectrum CBD vs Broad Spectrum CBD

Cannabidiol (CBD) is what we call a cannabinoid, a chemical compound that is found in the cannabis plant. Hemp and marijuana, are two sub-species of the cannabis plant family. Cannabinoids are found in both, in varying degrees. CBD is known for its enormous therapeutic potential, and unlike its counterpart THC, it does not cause the user to experience a high.

Our body produces its own cannabinoids (called endocannabinoids) that interact with the endocannabinoid system (ECS) of the brain and body. The ECS is a regulatory system responsible for vital functions including immune support, mood regulation, memory, pain response, appetite, sleep, and more. Endocannabinoids can sometimes fall below a desirable level or become imbalanced. When this happens, we can experience many of the ailments people encounter every day (insomnia, mood disorders, pain, etc). Supplementing with CBD from a natural plant source like hemp can help to counteract these imbalances.

What's the Difference?

The biggest difference between full spectrum CBD and broad spectrum CBD is the compounds it contains. Full Spectrum CBD contains cannabinoids and terpenes as well as trace amounts (<0.3%) of THC. On the other hand, while broad spectrum CBD can contain other cannabinoids, it does not contain any THC.

Although full spectrum CBD contains THC, it is not an intoxicating amount. The THC works with the other cannabinoids present to increases the overall effects of the cannabinoids.

NOTE: Using Full Spectrum CBD will test positive for THC on a drug test. If your employer tests for THC, Broad Spectrum CBD or CBD Isolate is recommended.
